Privacy policy

In one sentence. Cell Editor does not collect, store, sell or transmit any of your data. It cannot: the add-on has no permission to make network requests, so there is nowhere for your data to go.
1. What this covers
This policy applies to the Google Sheets add-on Cell Editor, distributed through the Google Workspace Marketplace. Each handyaddons add-on has its own policy, because each one asks for its own permissions. The website you are reading is covered in section 8.
2. Who publishes it
The add-on is developed and published by handyaddons, a sole proprietorship registered in Ukraine. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation that business is the data controller, reachable at pobi.olex@gmail.com. Because the add-on collects no personal data, the role has very little to do — but you are entitled to know who stands behind it, and full registration details are available on request at the same address.
3. What the add-on does with your spreadsheet
Cell Editor reads the content you open in it, lets you edit that content, and writes it back. All of this happens inside Google's own infrastructure — in your browser and in the Google Apps Script runtime attached to your document.
Your content is never sent to handyaddons or to any third party. No copy of it is retained anywhere after you close the editor.
4. The permissions we request, and why
When you install Cell Editor, Google asks you to approve exactly two permissions. There are no others.

What is deliberately absent
Cell Editor does not request permission to see your other spreadsheets, your Google Drive, your email, your contacts or your calendar. It also does not request script.external_request, the permission an Apps Script add-on needs in order to contact any server on the internet. Without it, the add-on is technically incapable of transmitting your data anywhere — this is enforced by Google, not merely promised by us.
5. What is stored, and where
Cell Editor remembers a small number of your preferences so it can open the way you left it: whether you last used the sidebar or the window, your chosen font size, and the size of the window. These are stored using Google's own properties service, inside your Google account, and are visible only to the add-on. They contain no document content and no personal information.
Removing the add-on removes these preferences with it.
6. Analytics, advertising and tracking
The add-on contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cookies. We do not know how often you use it or what you do with it. We receive no usage reports of any kind.
7. Sharing and disclosure of Google user data
We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than the ones described in this policy. In practice there are no such purposes, so there is no transfer at all.
Google user data reached by Cell Editor is not sold, rented, traded, published, or shared with anyone. There are no third parties involved in running this add-on: no service providers, no sub-processors, no hosting partners, no analytics providers, no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no affiliates. handyaddons operates no server that this data could be sent to.
This is enforced technically rather than promised. The add-on does not request the script.external_request permission, which is the permission Google requires before any Apps Script code may contact an address on the internet. Without it, the add-on is incapable of transmitting anything anywhere, whatever its code might say.
The same applies to legal requests. If we were compelled by a court or an authority to hand over your spreadsheet content, we would have nothing to hand over: we hold no copy of it, and no means of obtaining one.
8. How your data is protected
Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data. The most important one is structural: your data never leaves Google.
- It stays inside Google's infrastructure. The add-on runs in Google's Apps Script environment, inside your own Google account. The cell you edit travels between the spreadsheet and the editor panel and back again, and never crosses out of Google's systems.
- It is encrypted in transit. Every exchange between the editor panel and the add-on takes place over HTTPS within Google's network. This website is served over HTTPS as well.
- It is encrypted at rest. The few preferences described in section 5 are held by Google's own properties service, which Google encrypts at rest, in the pair “this user, this add-on”. No other add-on and no other user can read them.
- Access is limited to the file you have open. The add-on requests
spreadsheets.currentonly, the narrowest spreadsheet permission Google offers. It grants access to the one spreadsheet the add-on was opened in, and only while it is open. Every other file in your account is out of reach. - It cannot be sent anywhere. As explained in section 7, the add-on has no permission to make network requests.
- Nobody at handyaddons can see it. We run no server, no database, and no backup of your content. There is no administrative console, no support tool, and no export through which anyone — including the developer — could reach what is in your spreadsheet. The access does not exist to be abused or stolen.
9. Data retention and deletion
We retain no Google user data, because we never receive any. The contents of a cell are read when you open the editor, held in memory while you work, and written back when you save. Nothing remains once the panel is closed.
The four preference values described in section 5 are kept inside your own Google account for as long as the add-on stays installed. They are deleted automatically when you remove the add-on, which you can do at any time from the Extensions menu in Google Sheets. There are no archives, backups, or copies elsewhere, so nothing survives that deletion.
10. AI and machine learning
Google Workspace APIs are not used to develop, improve, or train non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Google user data is never used, transferred, or sold for the development, improvement, or training of any AI or ML model, generalized or otherwise.
Cell Editor contains no AI or machine learning model, is not built on one, and integrates with no AI service of any kind — not Google's own, not a third party's, not through an aggregator, gateway, or model hub, and not a self-hosted or offline model. It sends no prompt anywhere and receives no generated content. As with everything else in this policy, this is guaranteed by the absence of the script.external_request permission.
One point deserves a plain explanation, because it is easy to misread from the source code. Cell Editor offers autocomplete and descriptions for the built-in functions of Google Sheets — around seven hundred of them, from SUM to VLOOKUP. Google has added AI() and GEMINI() to that list of built-in functions, so the add-on carries their names, a one-line description, and a link to Google's documentation, exactly as it does for every other function. That reference text is the only place those words appear. If you write such a formula, it is Google Sheets that evaluates it, under Google's own terms; the add-on merely writes the text of your formula into the cell, as it would with any other formula, and never calls Gemini or any other model itself.
11. Limited use disclosure
handyaddons' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
12. Third-party resources loaded by the editor
The editor panel is built on two open-source libraries, Quill and CodeMirror, which your browser downloads from two public code distribution networks: jsDelivr and cdnjs. These are static script and stylesheet files. No part of your spreadsheet, and no information about you, is sent to either of them.
What they do see, as any website does when your browser requests a file from it, is your browser's IP address and the name of the file requested. We have no account with either service and receive nothing back from them. Their own policies apply to that request: jsDelivr and Cloudflare, which operates cdnjs.
13. This website
handyaddons.com is a set of static pages served by GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. GitHub keeps standard server logs, which include visitors' IP addresses, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser's IP address is visible to Google when a page loads.
14. Your rights
The GDPR gives you the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it. The same rights, under different names, exist in the UK, California and a growing number of other places.
In our case the honest answer to all of them is the same: we hold nothing to show you, correct, or erase. We have no account for you, no record of your use of the add-on, and no copy of anything from your documents. The preferences described in section 5 live inside your own Google account and disappear when you remove the add-on.

15. Links to other places
The add-on links to Google's own reference pages, and this site links to Google's policies and to the Marketplace. Those destinations are not ours, and their own privacy practices apply once you arrive there.
16. Children
Cell Editor is a productivity tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
17. Changes to this policy
If the add-on ever requests a new permission or begins handling data differently, this page will be updated before that change reaches you, and the date at the top will change with it.
